BLOG3.2

Not really got much to say work has been really busy. However, looking into these 2 projects below.

Personal website

This is technically a refresh to get the old site looking more professional. Watch this space!

Unreal Engine 4

Really excited about this! Started a side scrolling game in the UE4, this mainly to learn everything about blueprints, c++, modeling and game creation process. Hopefully I will add stuff to the personal site about this project. So I can share more about it rather than in this blog.

So thats it.

Bye for now!

BLOG2.4

Ok first what is the name all about, well BLOG2.4 is BLOG is a LOG 2 is the month = February. And .4 = the week of that month.

Ok with that now out of the way time to write the blog, and I’ve broken it down into the different areas of my life for this update as it has been too long since my last update.
Note it will not always be in this format. I think this just allows me to get my head around stuff.

Personal Life

Well I’m getting married that’s the biggest thing happening in my personal life now.

Professional Life

Am working in Leith now at Victoria Quay, still working as a senior test analyst. However, I’m looking for a new job or to get my employer to move me to a project in or near Glasgow as I’m from Airdrie and the commute to work is beginning to take its toll.

Projects

I have a few projects that I want to do, but as my work is tiring with all that travelling I can’t work on them. Hopefully this blog will make me a bit more focus to get these projects started.
I would love to get my artwork and now that I’m becoming better at computer programing I’d like to make an app or mobile game.

Fitness and Sports

Had to stop playing rugby as I picked up a few injures, still playing American Football, well for at least one more season. However, my weight has got me down recently so I’ve joined a gym and I went from 14.7 to 16 stone, however my body fat stayed 35.5%, so added a ton of muscle. So, going to keep that going. However, I’ll need to do something else if I stop American Football as I will not be doing any sports and just get fat lol!

So, that’s it for this week, this blog was just a general catch up. The blogs will be a more specific update of personal life, professional life, projects, fitness or sport. Or anything I think that I should share online.

Bye for now!

Personal Site

Just a little update. Got my own website and have built and pretty good site. Few issues that need addressed.

Also need to update content a bit. But it's getting.

Hopefully I'll be able to used www.grahamdthomson.co.uk in 2017 to help advance and enhance my career and projects :)

Site is certainly in BETA right now lol!

Also found a more digital art and design site which my be good for separating the hobby art to what I do as a professional.

It's called Adobe myPortfolio, so I'll be working over two fronts. It's not to my art will not make to the personal site my use links to the portfolio instead of showing all my art on my professional site.

Professional site sound better than personal site lol

Re-Start rather than Re-Boot

Lets get back into this, I'm going to outline new projects and goals I want to achieve in 2017. As my playing American football is winding down I will have to do other things to keep me from going postal lol.

So Like I said watch this space going to give an update since the last update and what I now plan do. Generally it's time to achieve my goal of total world dominance....... ha ha ha just kidding.

Just want to really outline everything on here, mainly for myself. Not to get back on track but to more focus on getting stuff done etc.

New post in a couple of days and it will be updated every week :)

Tuesday, 15 September 2015

Well just been reading this and my life has slowed a bit but there some really good things that have happen. Got a new positions in the company with new wages etc. Moved in with my girlfriend and her little boy.

I haven't managed to achieve everything I wanted but reading back I think I will change that now. Got a little fatter again but I'll work on changing that too :)

So I will update this more me thinks give me something to account my actions.

So it starts today!

Tuesday, 23 December 2014

Well I haven't been keeping this up!!!

I need to work on this.

It's time I started getting into the habit and updating this regularly. Just been a very busy year from a work point of view. I really hate working IT, it's the same old same old and your always knackered at the end of the day. There is not creativity in this job and I would love to create and draw some really amazing stuff.

Any good news is that I got my iPad Air 2 and Pencil by 53 and now be able to work on the move :). Hopefully this will get me to create some artwork which I can showcase here and on facebook.

Also I now know that IT isn't for me and I need to work to change my career, but to that I need to start creating a portfolio and work on my artwork.

So hopefully this change in mindset will drive my artwork in 2015 to actually get things done. I have tons of art books ranging from Photoshop to Zbrush, I just need to take time to start learning how to use these wonderful apps and use my Mini Mac for which it was bought.

One last note to anybody out their looking at this, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Must do this daily!!

A bit late again lol!

Well been busy over the last couple of days. I've outline all the stuff I've done below.

1. Upgraded my Mac Mini, it now flies by the way. 16GBs of Ram and a 1TB SSHD.

2. Had reinstall all my software lol.

3. Had to tidy up all of my flat because of task number 4, flat has been left and was getting to be a right pain in the bum lol.

4. Been working hard at Rugby 7s training.

Task 4 is really important as this weekend I have my first 7s tournment, which is going to be really good fun :)

The American football season is still pretty tough we have now lost 3 games in a row, not by a huge score. However, we are so much better than last year. I just wish I was a bit more involved as I'm backing up our number 1 running back :(.

Project Eve is going well, my friend Bob who is the writer has give me number of character bios and they are amazing. This will help with the character concept art a lot.

Project Spartan is a new project that I'm trying out. The whole idea is to be ready for a Spartan run in the UK in 2015. My Gfriend is also going to do it and I'm setting out a fitness program for the big Spartan run in 2015 :)

Anyway that's whats I've been up too.

Catch you soon.

Time for a change

Hi

I have done!!! Got mysel a Mac Mini and moving away from Windows. I just had enough of a big PC and the noise it makes.

The Mac Mini will be my work PC which I will use for my artwork and learning. So then I'm now set to work on the Eve projects. Also I'm so happy with this little computer and I can upgrade it too :)

So just a wee update, it's like chess. I'm moving the pieces into place to help me achieve my goals.

Next is the iPhone 6 lol :P

Till tomorrow

G

Well it's been a while.

I'm back!!!!!!!!

Lol it has been a while and I know I should have kept this up but life got the better of me and I've been too busy. However got an iPad mini 2 now and will be able to post on the go.

So the status of the year thus far.

Well I achieve one goal this year in terms of American Football, now back playing in the offence as RB and WR. This means my fitness and health are still going in the correct direction. Still not where I want to be but I'll get there :)

However I haven't made much of impact on developing my other goals this year thus far. So I need to get them back on track :)

So until tomorrow catch you later :)

My New year starts Now

Yes 6 days have pasted!!!

But it's my first day back to work after Christmas and New Year.

So hence the title and my new year really starts now. Mind you I have been out training and found out that Christmas and new year have impacted my fitness. But now the healthy eating and rugby training kicking in this week, plus also American football training starting this month should see the fitness return.

The other thing I did was write a list of goals and objectives for this year, some easy and some that will be tough. But you need to challenge yourself and push yourself onwards.

As the saying goes upwards and onwards.

At presently sitting eating lunch, on my lunch hour. So it's just a short update. Will also be publishing my list later this week :)

Catch you all late

2014 The Prologue: An Evolution rather than a Resolution.

Part 2

2014 The Prologue: An Evolution rather than a Resolution.

Yes it's January and time for "New Year Resolutions", but I had my resolutions or as I put it revolution last year.

This year is all about refining my life style from last year. I did many things and put in place a lot of structure that was missing. Like having a good diet, working out and doing jobs that I kept putting off.

Well this year it's all about challenging myself, building on what I achieved last year setting goals and working towards them. It could be with work, it could be fitness, it could be sports or even my artwork. Whatever I choose to do this year it is all about building up my skills and learning how to beat the challenges that I will face.

Hence a more evolutionary process to this year than a resolution. The reason I think this way is I know I can achieve things . But now it's about making sure I stay focus and maintain what I have done is key. It's not to say I'll not achieve stuff, it just means if I keep focused and improve my skills it will be easier. This is why goals become important than resolutions. Resolutions are usually to big and we all start off well, but sooner or later we fall down.

Now here comes the lame quote moment.

"Why do we fall down, so we can learn to pick ourselves up" - Guess which film lol :)

I know, I know!! But the reason I put this up is because I was watching these films last year and I thought to myself through 2009 to 2011 I had fallen down. Fat and feeling pretty useless. However I knocked the dust off and came up fighting, with a help from a few really good friends.

Last year I listed my resolutions as objectives, like playing linebacker, learning to drive, but they are pretty epic things. It's like me turning around and saying that I'll be playing flanker for the 1s this year in my rugby team. It may happen but I have to do tons of work and in a short time to get there. So it's very unlikely that would happen.

However, I can train at home and at the rugby park and use goals like stepping stones to get to my objective. It's better because I get to see my progress and if I fail to reach my objective this time around I can see which goals I'm struggling with and work to improve myself in that area.

So this mind set is what will make 2014 as successful or even more successful than 2013.

2013 Reconcile - What a Year!!!!!

Part 1

2013 Reconcile - What a Year!!!!!

Here is a list of some amazing events and my achievements.
Waaaaaaaaaaay back in January I passed my driving theory test. It was blood freezing that day in Glasgow lol.

Then I trained as a linebacker for the Dundee Hurricanes, which was brilliant!!! Then I got a chance at starting as the linebacker and I started and finished every game.
Also met my wondering girlfriend Jen in March, she's awesome!!!!
Then in June I passed my practical driving test :)

Then my brother’s stag do. Where I made new friends and made some great memories and lost a few too lol. Also made a fair exchange for my wallet and watch for some beads, don't ask lol!!!
Then in July got my 1st car around my birthday, which is awesome. J

Also in July my bro got married.

AUGUST & SEPTEMBER, two months which I believe changed my whole outlook on what fitness and training can do for you. It started in a game for Hurricanes where I was asked to play running back. I wasn't sure what I could do as I hadn't even looked at the offence's play book let alone trained with the offence. However once I was on the field it was such an amazing feeling to play running back again. I hadn't played it since 2009. Playing against Edinburgh was a great day, blocking the backing and this allowed Adam to run for a big gain. And the comments I got from my dad and brothers after the game, an awesome day.
Other favourite moment of the year for me was playing against Glasgow both ways. Linebacker and Running Back, never achieved that in my time playing until now. And Bruce at Quarter back and me as Running back, just like the good old days lol. Rushing for 83 yards and playing defence, an epic day. This was also the day I realise my body could take a lot more punishment and I decide to start playing rugby again.
I think it was the end of August or beginning of September I started playing rugby for Uddingston RFC. And at the end of September I think I scored my first try for Uddingston/Cambuslang 2s. Another great feeling, but this was down to finding a great team and great bunch of guys :).

See there is a trend building here for 2013 here, fitness and sports lol.

But the year was building to this moment in October. I was award the most improved player 2013 for the Dundee Hurricanes. I was very proud of myself for achieving that award and it continues to give me the motivation to carry on with my training at home, with the rugby team and American football team.
And in December 2013 I was put forward for promotion. This would be from test analyst to senior test analyst. And I have been informed recently that I got the promotion.

So as I close the door on 2013, how would I describe it? Life changing, no other year has changed my life in such a way as this one has. I met amazing people, I worked my ass off. I made an ass of myself (Stag do lol). But all in all I changed my life for the better.

And it's like a drug, hooked on wanting to achieve more and more.

I achieved so much, GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!
Now on too 2014, what else do I want to achieve. I already have my eyes on a few things so no slowing down now!!!!!

Hi World

Hi World,
Welcome to my page!
This page is all about my art  and what I will be trying to achieve in the next few months. I’m currently working in IT and want to get into the creative industry. I would like to work as a concept artist for a games company or in the movies.
So I thought a good place to start is to write a blog and include some of my art. I’m hoping to create a portfolio online of my work so people can see if my work is any good. Also I will be able to update everyone on my progress at night classes and weekend classes.
So I’m planning to get some sketches on here, wish me luck!!
Bye for now.
